GUIDANCE
Change status by touch and keyboard. The label needs to describe the feature, the current state must be identifiable beyond color, and the application results need to match the way the interface promises.
EXAMPLES
The “Appointment Reminder” label accompanies the switch and “On” status; turning off the switch only stops the reminder, does not clear the calendar.
Keep the meaning of the selection clear even when the toggle is not on and there are no changes.
Read the label when the toggle is off; users need to know what turning it on will change.
Example Turning off "Auto-save new photos" does not mean deleting saved photos.
The toggle reflects the actual value, with feedback if applying the change fails.
Emulate error saving settings; toggle needs to go back to the saved value and explain.
Example Turn on notification but request error: return to off status and try again.
Keep the label and description close to the toggle, use a click area that won't confuse another item.
Click the label and check with screen reader; all affect the correct settings.
